Welcome to my Home Page.

Please bear with me. These pages are kind of boring. If only I had some artistic talent......

Backyard Wildlife

This rabbit was in the backyard munching on the grass. Picture was taken in early spring 2000.
Silver Fox looking for food. Fox was only a few feet away from me.

Picture taken in early winter of 2000.

Please do not feed the wild animals!

One of the squirrels that think they own the place. Picture was taken in May 2001.
More squirrel pictures.

The many chipmunks here are likely to protest for equal time.

Pictures taken in May 2002.

Woodpecker. Technically not in our backyard, but the neighbors. This woodpecker doesn't stay in one spot very long and is usually gone by the time I get my camera out.

Picture was taken in April 2003.

I hate running into these guys in the back yard. This is a young bear.

Picture was taken in July 2002.

An earlier bear picture, this time up a tree. Sorry for the bad picture, but it was dark and raining outside and the flash is not very powerful. Bears do not like flashes - as soon as the picture was taken, the bear went up the tree at least another five feet.

Picture was taken in July 2001.

This fellow came by to check things out.

Pictures were taken in May 2001.

Where's Marathon?

On the north shore of Lake Superior, approximately half way between Sault St. Marie (4 hours east of here by road) and Thunder Bay (3.5 hours west of here by road), in the province of Ontario, Canada. Marathon has a population of about 5,500 people. The main industries here are the Marathon Pulp Inc. kraft paper mill and three gold mines (the Hemlo Gold Fields) 25 miles (40 km) east of here.

To get a better idea where Marathon is, go to the Marathon Sno-Kickers Snowmobiling page and click on the Trail Map link.

Here is an picture of Marathon taken from a helicopter in April 1999 on a cloudy day.
