The Museum

We are very proud of our Museum. On display are artifacts that showl the history of White River and in so doing show our Canadian history as well. White River was founded in 1865 by the Canadian Pacific Railway. At the museum you will see many early CPR artifacts, such as: silver servers that were used in the dining cars; a restored railway speeder; items used to repair tracks; a telegraph system; photos and much more.

Our Museum has many household articles which are in a display that has been set up as an early kitchen that one might have seen in small communities such as White River. You will see an old wringer washing machine and a charming wood cooking stove as well as many other interesting items.

On display is a copy of the oil on wood sketch painted by A. J. Casson the youngest member of the famous Canadian artists known as the Group of Seven. It was painted in October of 1929 while Casson was stopped at the Railway Station in White River.

Winnie-the-Pooh began in White River and this unique connection has inspired people from everywhere to contribute Pooh items that we have displayed in several Winnie-the-Pooh collections. The latest and largest is the "Lisa Yee Collection" from Orlando Florida.

We have created a special area at the Museum for books and display boards. While visiting, stop at our "Book Nook" , relax and read some of our wonderful old books and look at our interesting display boards.

In our gift area we have many Pooh items for sale, from mugs, plush Winnie characters, Royal Doulton figurines to White River's own "Where it all Began" line of Winnie-the-Pooh products and a great deal more.

Take a rest, view slides, and read at our Book Nook

There is no entry fee to the museum. We are a Non-profit organization and do appreciate any contributions to our donation jar. Stop at the White River Heritage Museum, come in for a visit, see our displays and Winnie-the-Pooh Collections.
